    ○先是致仕杨州府通判同知豊方奏孝莫大于严父严父莫大于配天请复古礼建明堂加尊<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇孝献皇帝庙号称宗以配<span lang="en-us"><span>  上帝下礼部会议尚书严嵩等言自昔羲农肇祀上帝或为合宫或为明堂嗣是夏后氏世室殷人重屋周人作为明堂之制视殷夏加详焉盖古者圣王以为人君天之宗子其事天也亦如子之事父义尊而情亲故制为一岁四享祀之礼有冬至圜丘礼有孟春祈谷礼有孟夏雩擅礼有季秋明堂礼皆所以遵之也明堂帝而享之又以亲之也先儒曰天即帝也郊而曰天以后稷配焉以尊稷也明堂而曰帝以文王配焉以亲文王也此周事然也臣等及覆思惟今日秋享之礼国典有缺委宜举行但明堂之制古汯难寻要在师先王之意自为令制切惟明堂圜丘皆所以事天也今 <span> 大祀殿在圜丘之北禁城东南正应古之方位穹窿閟侐允称严祀今明堂秋享之礼即以<span lang="en-us"><span>  大祀殿行之为当至于明堂配侑之礼昔周公宗祀文王于明堂诗传以为物成刑于帝犹人成形于父故季秋祀帝于明堂而以父配之取其成物之时也汉武帝明堂之享以景帝配孝章以光武配唐中宗时以高宗配明皇时以睿宗配永泰时以肃宗配宋真宗以太宗配仁宗时以真宗配英宗时以仁宗配皆世以递配此主于亲亲也宋钱公辅曰三代之法郊以祭天而明堂以祭五帝郊之祭以始封之祖有圣人之功者配焉明堂之祭以维体之君有圣人之德者配焉于是既推周公之心为严父又惟成王之心为严祖是以司马光孙忭诸臣执轮于朝难诸大贤倡议于下此主于祖宗之功德也我国家复古明堂大享之制其所当配之帝亦惟二论而已若以功德论<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗文皇帝再造家邦功符<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖当配以<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗也若以亲论则<span lang="en-us"><span>  献皇帝<span lang="en-us"><span>  陛下之所自出也<span lang="en-us"><span>  陛下之功德<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考之功德也是当以<span lang="en-us"><span>  献皇帝配也至于称宗之议臣等又议得人君之位天位也以天位相承谓之统设人称宗周人称王继统之严不容或紊此圣人至礼至正不易之道也夫既已称宗则未有帝宗而不济附于太庙者窃恐我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考在天之灵亦有所不安者矣臣等仰思<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣训远揆旧章称宗说不敢妄议入得旨明堂秋报大礼于<span lang="en-us"><span>  奉天殿行其配<span lang="en-us"><span>  帝务求归一之说<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考称宗在今日不为过情具古人未常概称其君为宗近代皆若是何在<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考为不宜再会议以闻于是户部左侍郎唐胄上争之曰宋儒朱熹尝以天地合配<span lang="en-us"><span>  宗庙同堂为非礼谓千五百年无人整理今我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上创<span lang="en-us"><span>  两郊建<span lang="en-us"><span>  九庙使三代礼乐涣然复明于世使熹及见之不知当如何以为颂也然三代之礼莫备于周孝经曰郊祀后稷以配天宗祀文王于明堂以配上帝又曰严父莫大于配天则周公其人也说者谓周公有圣人之德制作礼乐而文王适其父故引以证圣人之孝答曾子问而已非谓有天下者皆必以父配天然后为孝不然周公辅成王践阼其礼盖为成王而制于周公为严父子成王则为严矣然周公归政之后未闻成王以严父之故废文王配父之制而移于武王也及康继成亦未闻以严父之故废文王配天之制而移于成王也后世祀明堂者皆配以父此乃误识孝经之义而违先王之礼故有问于熹曰周公之后当以文王配耶当以时王之父配耶熹曰只当以文王为配又问继周者如何熹曰只以有功之祖配之后来第为严父说所感乱耳由此观之明堂之配不专于父明矣且昔我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上入纂大统之初廷臣讲礼不明执为人后之说于时推明一本力正大伦者惟习书张摠桂萼方献夫霍韬数人而已可谓忠臣矣及何渊有建庙之议书等则尽力斥之其言之最切者在书则曰<span lang="en-us"><span>  献皇帝入祀大内者以止生<span lang="en-us"><span>  陛下一人庙祀不可缺也不敢祔庙者以未为 <span> 天子大统不可干也在璁则曰先儒谓孝子心无穷分有限得为而不为与不得为而为之均为不孝<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上追尊<span lang="en-us"><span>  献考别立庙者此礼之得而为者也附<span lang="en-us"><span>  献考主于<span lang="en-us"><span>  太庙者此理之不得为者也在萼则曰仲尼有言孝子不顺情以违亲忠臣不兆奸以陷君渊说诚陷君矣<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上可顺情而信之乎夫岂不道而数臣言之盖爱君之切也于时<span lang="en-us"><span>  陛下嘉答诸臣亦云朕奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  天法<span lang="en-us"><span>  祖岂敢有干<span lang="en-us"><span>  太庙<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣明深见固已超越前代矣而岂今日乃感于豊坊之说乎第恨礼部会议不能辩严父之非不举文武成康之盛以告<span lang="en-us"><span>  陛下而乃滥引汉唐宋不足汯之事为言耳虽然豊坊明堂之议虽未可从而明堂之礼则不可废盖今冬夏南北<span lang="en-us"><span>  两郊皆主于尊必季秋一大享<span lang="en-us"><span>  帝于<span lang="en-us"><span>  奉天殿而亲亲之义始备自三代以来郊与明堂各立所配之帝我<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖高皇帝<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗文王帝功德之盛上并<span lang="en-us"><span>  帝王比之于周<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖则后稷也<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗则文王也南北<span lang="en-us"><span>  两郊及春祈谷皆奉配<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖皇帝<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗皇帝犹未有配甚为缺典故今<span lang="en-us"><span>  奉天殿大享之祭必奉配<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗而后吾<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣朝一代之大典礼始备故臣谓坊明堂之礼不可废也若夫我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考恭穆献皇帝得<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上大圣人为之子不待称宗不待议配而专庙之享亦足垂亿万世无疆之休矣伏惟裁察入<span lang="en-us"><span>  上曰兹所论诬礼无君为尤<span lang="en-us"><span>  文皇帝谁之祖<span lang="en-us"><span>  献皇帝谁之父朕为人孙子有轻重乎其借朱熹为言不遇箝子耳朱子每叹君臣终不若父子臣之于君未见真如子之于父也人臣之于君固多不同人子然未有甚于胄者动日时君时君不立则祖统何入继况内将<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考尊谧擅改又以张子敬避君奏赐写肆欺不道下锦衣卫拷讯礼部乃再会廷臣先议配帝之礼言考季秋成物之旨严父配帝之文<span lang="en-us"><span>  献皇帝配帝侑食允合周道<span lang="en-us"><span>  上曰明堂秋报大典当以严父配帝之文为正本与郊礼不同人孰无父其父即祖兹礼自朕行宜奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考配<span lang="en-us"><span>  上帝嵩等复言<span lang="en-us"><span>  高皇帝作配圜丘<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考作配秋享无容议矣<span lang="en-us"><span>  文皇帝继体首君祀天享帝独少一配似有未安臣等窃谓孟春祈谷可仍用廑祭之义于<span lang="en-us"><span>  大祀殿举行恭奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇祖文皇帝配祀冬至以<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖孟春以<span lang="en-us"><span>  文祖季秋以<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考如此则礼文周悉诚孝流通义<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上爱亲敬祖之心两无所憾矣得旨报闻已乃复以称宗之礼集文武大臣于东阁议言礼称祖有功宗有德释者曰祖始也宗尊也汉书注曰祖之称始始受命也宗之称尊有德可尊也孝经曰宗祀文王以配上帝王肃注曰周公于文王尊而祀之也此宗尊之说也古者天子七庙刘欹曰七者正法苟有功德则宗之不可预为设数宗不在数中尊变也朱熹亦以欹之说为然陈氏礼书曰父昭子穆而有常数者礼也祖功宗礼而无定法者义也此宗无数之说礼以义起者也惟<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考献皇帝锡封藩服系天下骏望与文王居四伯之位同笃生圣人光承天序与文王生武王克集大命同今<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上中兴功业皆<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考功业故今日宗祀之典援据古义推缘人情则<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考至德昭闻密佑<span lang="en-us"><span>  穷昊宗以其德可也<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣子神孙传受无疆皆<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考一人所衍布宗以其世可也惟<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上推武王周公宗祀之义师孔子之训下宋诸大儒之说明宗尊之义加<span lang="en-us"><span>  宗<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇穷配<span lang="en-us"><span>  帝明堂永为有德不迁之庙则<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣孝隆备垂之无穷矣<span lang="en-us"><span>  上以不言祔庙留中不发乃设为臣下奏对之词作明堂或问以示辅臣其文曰明堂或问者非上人以好辩以效常情之所为也实不得已之言也我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇祖尝假臣下作对奏因作楼城之上焉故此或问以作云问曰明堂大享之礼邃古无者本周之始固亦报<span lang="en-us"><span>  天之情祇以配位之位每论不同且在今日有甚难者汝其何用情哉答曰明堂享礼次于大报重于他祀虽古远有无未可知周始着之载籍今日之举未难时人之情甚非古人比也曰配帝为难将欲奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗配庶几可以服天下每思不知视<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗为何如之主今日<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣灵在天犹昔日御世一般<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗本时君之远祖以父近之亲宗之是非人道之正降祖为亲经所未闻孔子不曾有是言以教后世但世愈降道愈湮文人学士之心一日昧于一日但骋比舜文矣智恣已胡为上箝君父下愚细人此非难者决不可行之礼也问曰汝盖欲问<span lang="en-us"><span>  考配亦非晚于爱亲而不爱祖也答曰明堂本议是以秋时群物成以报父即人成于父之义以其所合干义之正大典则为礼故父配为正不为昵豊不为忌远问曰父配固是矣将来一世一易抑且以一乎答曰今既用周制为准则即如武王行礼奉以文王配之义一而已矣问曰周公制礼汝何谓武王行之答曰周公者臣职也虽然必称武王为正岂有臣行君礼哉周自武为之则严父必文今日我举必<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考配也问者又曰配义虽明称宗何为答曰称宗之义在今时无有一说但不过是尊亲之意亦无凭据比附亦无轻重亦无利害则是个崇上之义耳问曰称宗祔庙否答曰祔庙与称宗是一行今文臣但以祔庙必祧不如专享百世为上此不过愚哄其君耳我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考虽未即生存之位今日亦有如生之义<span lang="en-us"><span>  祖示列圣欢聚一堂独去我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考一人人情不堪时义不顺<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇天<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考之所眷思子子孙孙之所不忍独攵人残狠之无比也非害于义害于礼者即无意思之争辩必称宗必祔庙亲尽必祧则可以成一代宗庙之礼岂有<span lang="en-us"><span>  太庙中四亲不全之礼乎人而无父有诸况人君为人之极可乎问者又曰称宗祔庙祧礼皆明明堂之配亲尽将何为答曰明堂之配百世不可易奉祧何害两不关涉也问者又曰时人但为<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗不得一配为争耳答曰此说不是尊崇之实假借以制时君又上欺<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗为无道之甚夫假借制君之罪固重上欺<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗之罪尤重今日之<span lang="en-us"><span>  始祖<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖也<span lang="en-us"><span>  始祖故配郊也今日之<span lang="en-us"><span>  严父<span lang="en-us"><span>  献考也<span lang="en-us"><span>  严父故配明堂也此文人亦知之明明知<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗即不可上并<span lang="en-us"><span>  始祖又不降拟近亲故曰所谷可一奉配又欲复屋下以重明堂之祭此强牵妄拟欺愚君上是人为哉问曰若是说者则<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗永无配享之典汝宁忍之哉答曰礼之正所当为者不可避不可让也避则自诡让则负天礼之不正不当为者不可妄不可欺也妄则自失欺则诈情以事神神必不欲圣人教人如是耶问曰<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗功兼创守将何以报之哉答我<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗当<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇祖初定之中又值建文所坏复兴起之便是再创一般今同<span lang="en-us"><span>  太祖百世不迁此乃报崇之正然称号<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗未免无异于<span lang="en-us"><span>  列圣当以祖字列之庶见其宜也此人情之真焉夫何谓古以祖有功而宗有德令概以宗尊之<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗所谓有功者焉可同宗称之此当别之者也云仍令礼官导照或问会议来闻于是当书嵩等复言<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上以明堂宗庙典礼重大顷月以来三诏定议又而持廑<span lang="en-us"><span>  睿思作为或问以示臣民<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣人之见度越千古诚孝之念发自<span lang="en-us"><span>  天衷非臣下所能测识万一今日之礼制自<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上以奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考配帝乃合严父义<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗远祖降而为亲非人道之正崇上<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考宗号祔享<span lang="en-us"><span>  太庙兴<span lang="en-us"><span>  祖宗列圣欢聚一堂尽如生之义以备四亲之制皆我<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上至孝至庸之所形见有不能自已者臣等敢不唯命但祔庙之文考之古者父子异昭穆兄弟同世数故殷有四君一世而同庙宋以大祖太宗同居昭位此古事之可据者今<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考与<span lang="en-us"><span>  孝宗同气之亲为一世臣等窃拟宜奉<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考祔于<span lang="en-us"><span>  孝宗之庙至于<span lang="en-us"><span>  太宗再造之功同于开创盖与汉之高光二祖不殊宜进尊称为祖以别<span lang="en-us"><span>  群宗<span lang="en-us"><span>  圣见允当<span lang="en-us"><span>  上览其议谓<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考同<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇伯考一庙此本古礼当为法者但今恐不能容奉二主若无设位必同一方今再详议以闻嵩等复言<span lang="en-us"><span>  孝宗皇帝陵寝殿不足容奉二主欲建新宫则地势难于展拓臣寝谓<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考特庙已<span lang="en-us"><span>  寝成之安尊称昭谒同符<span lang="en-us"><span>  列圣<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇上惟崇之孝大矣今<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇考神主宜仍于特庙而遇祫享<span lang="en-us"><span>  太庙恭设<span lang="en-us"><span>  神座与<span lang="en-us"><span>  皇伯考同居昭位则在庙有常尊之敬在祫无不预之嫌矣于是<span lang="en-us"><span>  上亲视<span
